Jim Masterson Talks About The MastersonMethod®

The Masterson Method® is a unique, interactive method of equine bodywork that anyone can learn, to help build trust with the horse. Years of stress and stiffness can often be resolved in a few sessions, by relieving built-up tension in core muscles and key junctions of the body that affect the horse’s performance.

With The Masterson Method®, you learn to recognize and use the responses of the horse to find and release tension. In contrast to traditional massage, it works with the horse’s nervous system and the horse actively participates in the process. It is something you do with the horse, rather than to the horse.

The Masterson Method® of performance equine bodywork is designed to enable the horse to release tension in key junctions of the body that most affect performance. This is accomplished by following visual and palpable responses of the horse to touch and by asking for movement in a relaxed state. This method has been used on thousands of equine competitors, including horses that compete in FEI level dressage and show jumping, as well as by the USEF Endurance Team, USEF Singles Driving Team and FEI level eventers.

The Masterson Method® techniques address ALL bodywork targets: the parasympathetic nervous system, muscles, skeleton, energetic and fascia. Through the Masterson Method®, tension is released deep in core and postural muscles, allowing the horse’s spine to realign naturally.
